Cleveland, Ohio - Butler scored a pair of wins in doubles competition to pick up a crucial point before claiming three victories in singles play to edge out host Cleveland State, 4-3, at the Malaga Tennis Center on Sunday (April 12) afternoon.
The win sends the Bulldogs to 6-1 in the Horizon League.
After CSU picked up a win at No. 3 doubles, Gabriella Bobrowski and Natali Jaimes teamed up to score an 8-4 decision at No. 2. Becky Jenkins and Molly Casperson then provided the difference at the top spot, edging out a tough Viking tandem in a 9-8 (7-3) bout for the first point of the match.
Butler then picked up the wins it needed in singles play to come away with the match victory.
Jaimes scored a 6-3, 6-0 decision at No. 2 over Charlotte Gibbons, Casperson added a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3 over Melissa Holzinger and Jenkins tallied a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Jackie Tabb at No. 4.
Butler returns to action on Friday (April 17) when it closes out the regular season at home against Horizon League opponent Milwaukee beginning at 4:30 p.m.
