Indianapolis, Ind. - Butler picked up a pair of doubles victories to earn the first point of the match before scoring wins in the top four singles positions en route to a 5-2 triumph over visiting Milwaukee in the final bout of the regular season on Friday (April 17) afternoon at the Butler Outdoor Courts.
With the win, the Bulldogs finish the Horizon League schedule at 7-1 and lock up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming league championship for the third-consecutive season.
The tandem of Natali Jaimes and Gabriella Bobrowski got things started at No. 2 doubles, scoring an 8-4 victory over Jenna Felsher and Ashley Schoneman. Becky Jenkins and Molly Casperson locked up the opening point at the top spot with an 8-6 triumph over Kelly Drvaric and Kari Kastenholz.
The victorious quartet continued its success in singles play. Jenkins scored a swift 6-2, 6-2 decision at the No. 4 position over Schoneman, before Casperson picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 against Sammi Schoen. Jaimes added a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Kastenholz at No. 2, while Bobrowski came away with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) decision at the top spot over Drvaric.
The Horizon League Championship begins next Friday (April 24) at the North Central High School tennis courts in Indianapolis.
