Doubles Tandems Score Wins At Midwest Regional

East Lansing, Mich. - Both of the Bulldogs doubles teams scored wins in the opening rounds of the ITA Midwest Regional last weekend as the Butler women's tennis team wrapped up its fall season on the campus of Michigan State.

The tandem of Natali Jaimes and Gabriella Bobrowski held off the duo of Merel Beelen and Jennifer Barnes from Iowa for an 8-6 decision to move on in the bracket. The Butler team would be stopped in the ensuing round, however, as Megan Fudge and Leigh Finnegan of Illinois dealt them an 8-5 defeat.

Molly Casperson and Becky Jenkins also picked up a first-round doubles victory, topping Kara Courtney and Jeanette Feider of Xavier by a score of 8-4, but the Bulldogs' run would end in the next round via an 8-2 decision at the hands of DePaul's Anna Redecsi and Sandra Zmak.

Jaimes added a victory in singles play as well, rallying for a three-set 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 decision over Michigan State's Lindsey Lonergan.
