ROAD WARRIORS: The Butler men's tennis team will take to the road this week to face Toledo (Feb. 16) and Western Michigan (Feb. 17). Both matches will start at 1 p.m. The Bulldogs have played six of their nine spring matches on the road thus far this spring season.
HOME COURT: The Bulldogs reigned on their homecourt on Saturday, knocking off IUPUI and Bradley. Butler defeated crosstown rival IUPUI, 7-0, in the morning match before defeating the Braves, 6-1, in the afternoon battle.
CLEAN SWEEP: Seniors Brandon Currie, Jimmy Borendame, Josh Rey and Peter Voelz each won a pair of singles matches and a pair of doubles matches over the weekend. Currie and Borendame teamed up in number one doubles to oust IUPUI's Aaron Nikou and Brian Slack 8-3, before defeating Bradley's Mike Walz and Paul Craigen 8-2. The tandem of Rey and Voelz recorded a pair victories in No. 2 doubles, knocking off the Jaguars' Mike Ross and James Mas 8-1, and beating Bradley's Marijon Panzic and Mark Moskievicz 8-4.
READY AND ABEL: Senior Abel Contreras nabbed two singles victories on Saturday, improving his overall record to 7-7. Contreras soundly defeated IUPUI's Zach Breneman 6-1, 6-0 and then beat Bradley's Marijon Panzic 6-2, 6-1. Contreras also paired up with Aubrey Annan in No. 3 doubles to pick up a 8-2 win over IUPUI.
TIME SHARE: The Butler women's tennis team will spend half their weekend on the road and the other half at home. The Bulldogs will travel to Toledo on Saturday (Feb. 16). Match time is slated for 1 p.m. Butler will then host Evansville on Sunday (Feb. 17) at 11 a.m.
BULLDOGS DROP A PAIR ON THE ROAD: Butler lost to both Indiana (7-0) and Miami (Ohio) (6-1) on the weekend, to fall to 0-3 on the season.
LAUN'S LIVING IT UP: Sophomore Christina Laun posted two wins against the RedHawks. The Kiel, Wis. native defeated Miami's Brooke Peyton, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 in No. 2 singles action. She then teamed up with Molly Figel to defeat Kadija Richards and Peyton 8-4 in No. 1 doubles. Laun is now 1-3 in both singles and doubles on the season.
