Weekly Notes: Butler Women's Tennis

UP NEXT: The Butler women's tennis team will travel to Hawaii for spring break. The Bulldogs, who are 3-7 overall, will take on Hawaii on Mar. 12 at 3:30 p.m. and will face BYU Hawaii on Mar. 13 at 2 p.m.

LAST WEEK RECAP: The Bulldogs blasted crosstown rival, IUPUI, 7-0 on Feb. 26 at the Butler Bubble. Butler then dropped its next two matches - a 6-1 decision to Western Michigan on Mar. 1 and a 6-1 decision to DePaul on Mar. 2 - before defeating Horizon League foe Cleveland State 7-0 on Mar. 3. The Bulldogs' win over the Vikings marked their first conference match of the season.

STEPPING IT UP: Senior Molly Figel improved to 7-4 in singles action over the week, as she defeated opponents from IUPUI, DePaul and Cleveland State on the week. The Fort Wayne, Ind. native knocked off the Jaguars' Emily Dukeman 6-1, 6-3. After losing to Western Michigan's Nikki Douglass 6-2, 7-5, Figel rebounded and posted Butler's lone victory against DePaul, defeating Kadi Hilpus 3-6, 6-4, 7-5. Figel then went on to dominate the Vikings' Erin Johnson in No. 3 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0. Figel and partner Christina Laun went 2-2 on the week in No. 1 doubles action.
