Indianapolis, Ind. - After rolling to wins in all three of her singles and doubles bouts last week, Butler sophomore women's tennis player Gabriella Bobrowski was named the Horizon League's Women's Tennis Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Wednesday (April 1).
Bobrowski went undefeated at singles and doubles play in three matches last week, including two Horizon League contests. She rallied for a 1-6, 7-6 (4), 7-5 win at No. 2 singles against Xavier on March 25 before picking up a 6-2, 6-3 win over Detroit at the same spot on March 27. Two days later (March 29), she picked up a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at the top singles spot against Green Bay.
She also teamed with Natali Jaimes for wins at the No. 2 doubles position in each match, winning 8-6 against both Xavier and Detroit and 8-5 against Green Bay.
Bobrowski is currently tied for the team lead with 15 singles wins and with 10 doubles victories.
The honor is the first of the season for Bobrowski and the fifth for the Butler women's team. Jaimes has been honored twice this year, while junior Becky Jenkins and freshman Cam Thompson have been recognized once each.
Butler returns to action on Saturday (April 4) when it hosts UIC beginning at 1:00 p.m.
