Weekly Notes: Butler Women's Tennis

UP NEXT: The Butler women's tennis team will host Valparaiso in a non-league match on Wednesday (Apr. 17) at 4 p.m. The match marks the last home outing for the Bulldogs (9-10) this season. Butler will then take on a trio of league opponents this weekend as the Bulldogs travel to UIC (Apr. 19), UW-Green Bay (Apr. 20) and UW-Milwaukee (Apr. 21). Butler currently holds a perfect 4-0 record in league action.

LOVIN' THE LEAGUE: The Bulldogs have had great success in the Horizon League this season, starting off with a perfect 4-0 mark. After blanking Cleveland State, Detroit and Youngstown State by a 7-0 score, Butler captured a 4-3 victory over Wright State on Saturday. After winning the doubles point, the Bulldogs won three out of the six singles matches with senior Molly Figel winning the deciding match over Gloria Montero 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 in No. 4 singles.

NON-CONFERENCE ACTION: Butler dropped a 4-3 decision to Xavier on Apr. 8, losing for the first time since Mar. 13 in Hawaii. The Bulldogs have won six of their last seven matches since their 7-0 loss to BYU Hawaii.

SINGLED OUT: Sophomore Christina Laun recorded two singles victories on the week, defeating Xavier's Stephanie Bauer 6-4, 6-3 and Wright State's Marie Craig 6-3, 6-2 in No. 2 singles. Laun and doubles partner Molly Figel went 1-1 on the week, picking up an 8-3 win against the Raiders.
