Indianapolis, Ind. - After helping the Butler women's tennis team to a 7-1 record in conference play, sophomores Gabriella Bobrowski and Natali Jaimes and junior Molly Casperson have been named to the 2009 All-Horizon League Women's Tennis Team. The league office made the announcement on Friday (April 24). Bobrowski was tabbed to the all-league first team, while Jaimes and Casperson earned second team distinction.
A native of Niles, Ill., Bobrowski finished second on the team with 18 wins in singles play and tied for the team-lead with 14 doubles victories. The Horizon League Women's Tennis Player of the Week on April 1 after going 3-0 in singles and doubles, she has won eight of her last 10 singles bouts, including five-straight from March 21-29. She also tallied a team-high seven wins in doubles competition during league play.
It is Bobrowski's first league post season award of her career.
Jaimes, a native of Downers Grove, Ill., was named the Horizon League Women's Tennis Player of the Week on two occasions during the fall, receiving the honor on Oct. 1 and Oct. 29. She scored a team-best five wins at the No. 1 singles position and tallied a team-high seven wins in doubles competition during league play, including the last four in a row.
The award is the second of her young career following a first-team bid as a freshman in 2008.
Casperson, meanwhile, picks up her third-straight all-league honor after scoring first-team awards the last two seasons - including Newcomer of the Year distinction as a freshman in 2007.
A native of Neenah, Wis., she boasted wins in seven of eight singles matches during league play and has won seven of her last nine singles bouts, including the past four in a row. She posted seven wins at the No. 1 doubles spot - including five in conference - and was a winner in her last four doubles matches.
