Casperson, Jaimes Earn All-League First Team Nods

April 25, 2008

Indianapolis, Ind. - Butler women's tennis players Molly Casperson and Natali Jaimes were both mentioned among the top performers in the Horizon League this past spring, as the duo was included on the 2008 All-Horizon League Women's Tennis First Team. The league office made the announcement on Friday (April 25).

Casperson, a native of Neenah, Wis., earns her second all-league first team award after receiving first team honors and the league's newcomer of the year award as a freshman last season. She finished the regular season with a team-best 18 singles wins, including a 12-8 mark in dual meet competition and a 7-1 record in league play. A two-time recipient of the conference player of the week award (April 1 and 8), she also posted an impressive 18-8 mark in doubles competition, including a perfect 8-0 slate in league play along side teammate Becky Jenkins.

Jaimes, a native of Downers Grove, Ill., put together a strong freshman campaign with the Bulldogs, going 16-12 overall in singles with an 11-9 mark in duals and a 6-2 record in conference play as the team's No. 2 player. The league's female player of the week on Feb. 20, she also teamed up with fellow freshman Gabriella Bobrowski for 13 wins in doubles play, including eight at No. 1 and six in league matches.

The Bulldogs completed the regular season with a 12-8 record overall and a 7-1 league mark.

Butler enters the Horizon League Championship as the No. 2 seed in the tournament and earns a bye to the semifinal round, which begins on Saturday (April 26) at 4:00 p.m. at the North Central High School tennis courts in Indianapolis.
