Casperson Earns League Newcomer Of The Year Honors, First Team Accolades

Indianapolis, Ind. - After putting together a dominant rookie campaign playing primarily at the No. 1 singles spot, freshman Molly Casperson was named the Horizon League's Newcomer of the Year while earning a spot on the six-member all-league first team. Junior transfer Tiffany McLoughlin also picked up hardware, being tabbed to the all-league second team.
Casperson served as the Bulldogs' top player for the majority of the spring, posting a 13-11 overall mark and a 5-2 record in league play. She added a 17-13 record in doubles play, including a 6-1 mark in conference, and was also a two-time recipient of the league's female player of the week award.
McLoughlin added to Butler's accolades with a nod on the all-league second team, finishing with a 13-11 singles record playing mostly at No. 2 while going 5-2 in league play. She also posted 10 doubles wins, including a 6-1 slate in conference play while being named the league player of the week once.
The Bulldogs open up the Horizon League Championship as the No. 2 seed on Saturday (April 28) when they take on No. 7 Youngstown State beginning at 9:00 a.m. at North Central High School in Indianapolis.
