INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Milwaukee defeated the Butler women's volleyball team, 3-1, Saturday afternoon, clinching the Horizon League regular season title in the process. The Bulldogs got a match-high 19 kills and 12 digs from senior Jessica Wolfe in the loss.
"We needed some players to step up for us tonight," head coach Sharon Clark said. "We aren't full strength right now, and you have to be to beat a team as good as Milwaukee.
"We'll work hard this week to rebound for next weekend."
Butler won the first set 25-23 before Milwaukee took command of the match. The second set was close early, with Milwaukee holding a 13-11 lead after a kill by Wolfe. That lead grew to 20-14, forcing a Butler timeout. Milwaukee went up 24-16 before the Dawgs managed to win a few points, forcing Milwaukee to call a timeout to regroup. UWM's Elizabeth Egerer's kill clinched the second set and made it 1-1.
