Milwaukee def. Butler 25-23, 25-15, 25-14

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Milwaukee hit .317 as a team and took advantage of some Bulldog breakdowns as the Butler volleyball team lost, 3-0, Friday night in Milwaukee's Klotsche Center. Butler will host North Dakota State Monday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

The Bulldogs were returning to Milwaukee for the first time since capturing the 2010 Horizon League Championship there last November. Milwaukee is the defending regular season league champ.

Sophomore Maggie Harbison and freshman Kelly Kyle led the Bulldogs. Harbison had six kills on .333 hitting, two aces and two blocks. Kyle had a team-high nine kills and five digs.

The Bulldogs cited serving as a strong point on the night, but they made too many errors to keep with the Panthers (10-4, 3-0).

"We knew the players we wanted to target with our serving," head coach Sharon Clark said. "We served aggressively and tough. But we just made too many unforced errors to beat a really good Milwaukee team."

UWM's Kerri Schuh, the 2010 Horizon League Player of the Year, had 12 kills, seven digs and four assists. Kayla Price handed out 37 assists and Melissa Jansen had 10 kills on .320 hitting.

Butler's match vs. North Dakota State is the team's final non-conference match of the season. The Bulldogs (5-9, 1-2) are hosting Monday Madness, with student organizations competing for prizes. Freshmen Christina Saenger, Belle Obert and Stephanie Kranda will be signing autographs after the match.
