Dottie Porch joined the Butler volleyball coaching staff in the summer of 2013. Porch, who has extensive knowledge of the game both as a player and a coach, most recently served as the head coach of the Niagara volleyball program in 2012.

Porch spent one season as the head coach at Niagara where she guided the team to a 15-14 overall record which included a 12-6 mark in the MAAC conference. While coaching at Niagara, Porch worked with recruiting, budgets, and team development.

The newest member of the Butler coaching staff has worked as an assistant coach at Indiana, George Mason, and Pittsburgh. While working with the Panthers, Porch was responsible for on-court development, on-court drills, coordinating team travel and working with the team budget. She worked at Pitt from 2011-12 and helped the team post an 18-15 record during her stay.

Prior to her job at Pittsburgh, Porch worked as an assistant volleyball coach at George Mason from 2007-11. Porch worked closely with setters, defensive specialists, and middle blockers at George Mason before dialing in with outside hitters at Pittsburgh. The Patriots recorded three winning seasons during Porch’s time with the program including a 23-9 overall record during the 2009 season which included a Colonial Athletic Association Conference Championship.

Porch’s first collegiate assistant coaching job came at Indiana during the 2005-06 campaign. On-court development of middle blockers was a primary responsibility for Porch at Indiana, but she also assisted with the planning of practice, coordinated team travel, and recruiting.

Club volleyball is also in Porch’s background as she helped develop young players off and on for a decade. Porch got her start in club volleyball coaching with the Indy Juniors in 2002 and most recently helped coach the Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Club in 2012.

As a player, Porch was an AVCA All-American at IPFW where she played for the Mastodons from 1994-97. Porch was a three-time GLVC All-Conference selection and was twice named All-Region. She went on to be inducted into the IPFW Hall of Fame in 2010.

A short professional career followed Porch’s time at IPFW as she spent time as an outside hitter in the European Professional League. Porch was able to play in Finland, Italy, Portugal and Turkey from 1998-2001.

Porch earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a minor in Media Production from Purdue University while attending IPFW.
