Sara Gallagher, the starting setter on the Bulldog's 2004 team, returns to the Butler squad as an assistant coach for the second season in 2006. Gallagher handles team travel in addition to on-court duties involving primary ball control and setter training.

The Sonoma, Calif., native enjoyed a solid four-year career under head coach Sharon Clark, highlighted by the team's 18-10 record in 2004. That season, Gallagher paced the Bulldogs with 1,224 assists, good for fourth in the Horizon League.

Gallagher finished her Butler career with 1,465 assists, the seventh-highest total in school history. Many of those sets found classmates Areal Bienemy and Kali Carter, who earned All-Horizon League honors in each of the final two seasons of their respective careers. Bienemy also earned AVCA All-America honorable mention honors in both 2003 and 2004.

In her first three seasons at Butler, Gallagher appeared mainly as a defensive specialist and performed well, finishing her career with 585 total digs. But her best work came in her senior campaign, as she posted 40 or more assists on 17 occasions and had 12 double-doubles. She started all 28 matches in 2004 and saw action in every game.

A product of the Empire Volleyball Club, Gallagher also coached the Team Indiana 16-1 in 2006.

Gallagher graduated in May 2006 with a degree in secondary education, specializing in mathematics. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in the College of Education.
