Indianapolis, Ind. - Senior middle blocker Michelle DeGeeter paced the Bulldogs with 14 kills and freshmen outside hitters Katie Daprile and Jessica Wolfe each notched 10 digs as Butler ran away with a 30-17, 30-20, 30-21 rout of visiting Chicago State at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Friday (Sept. 28).
Butler dominated their foe on both sides of the ball, knocking down 44 kills to the Cougars' 24 while holding them to a -.046 hitting percentage in the match.
The Bulldogs jumped out early in the first game, holding Chicago State without a single kill until late in the game with Butler leading 20-7. The Cougars would finish the opener with just five kills as the Bulldogs claimed a 30-17 decision.
Butler would never trail in the second game as well, as the Bulldogs went ahead 22-13 before taking a 2-0 lead into the locker room.
Chicago State put up more of a fight in the third contest and would lead 16-15 midway through, but a 9-2 run by the Bulldogs would all but put the match away.
The Cougars' 24 kills and -.046 attack percentage were both season lows for Bulldog opponents, as were their 21 assists and 39 digs.
DeGeeter led all players with 14 kills and a .417 hitting percentage, while freshman Jalesa Lee added six kills at a career-best .333 hitting percentage and six block assists. Freshman Holly Knight added a career-best seven kills in the match while hitting .312.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday (Sept. 29) when they host league foe Valparaiso beginning at 4:00 p.m.
