Wright State Stops Bulldogs, 3-0

Sept. 29, 2006

Box Score

Dayton, Ohio - The Butler defense combined for 12 total blocks and held Wright State to a .170 attack percentage, but the Raiders held the Bulldog offense in check and prevented a late rally to secure a 3-0 Horizon League decision on Friday (Sept. 29) evening.

Trailing two games to none, the Bulldogs battled to game point at 30-29 in the third contest but were unable to hold on as the Raiders claimed three-straight points.

Freshman Porshia Allen tied for team-highs with eight kills and 17 digs, while senior Susana Henri added eight kills of her own and sophomore Nina Inic chipped in 17 digs. Junior Michelle DeGeeter notched eight kills while recording six total blocks.

"This was a great defensive match as far as blocking and digging," head coach Sharon Clark said. "We got our blocking stabilized tonight, but I felt like the match was flat overall. We fought at the end because our offensive system is coming around and we are starting to see some consistency in our players."

Wright State's Alisha Kimbro paced all players with 17 kills, while Jenny Schultz added 11.

The Bulldogs return to Hinkle Fieldhouse on Oct. 6 when they battle Cleveland State beginning at 7:00 p.m.
