Bulldogs Cruise Past UMKC, 3-0

Indianapolis, Ind. - Butler hit a season-high .303 in the match while holding visiting UMKC to opponent season-lows with 23 kills and a .000 attack percentage in claiming a convincing 30-22, 30-10, 30-21 decision at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Sunday (Oct. 21) afternoon.

Five of the Butler starters hit above .300 in the match, including a match-best .435 (11-1-23) by freshman Jessica Wolfe, as the Bulldogs claimed a business-like sweep in one hour, 25 minutes.

The team set three-game-match season highs with 48 assists and 69 digs, while the team's 52 kills fell just one shy of the season-best three-game mark.

Butler never trailed in the match, as the opening game proved to be the most closely contested of the three. The Kangaroos climbed to within three points as late as 13-10, but the Bulldogs steadily pulled away down the stretch before claiming a 30-22 decision.

The final two games were all Butler, as a 15-2 run to open the second game put the Bulldogs fast on their way to a 2-0 advantage before an 8-1 start to the third and a 7-0 run midway through put the match squarely in the hands of Butler.

Wolfe led the squad with a .435 hitting percentage, while Katie Daprile (.364) and sophomore Porshia Allen (.320) added strong performances.

Senior Michelle DeGeeter tallied her team-leading 10th double-double of the year with a match-high 13 kills and 11 digs while hitting .303 (13-3-33), and junior setter Dana Daprile added her second with a team-best 36 assists and 12 digs while posting a .308 hitting percentage (5-1-13).

Junior Nina Inic paced the Bulldogs with 17 digs.

Butler returns to Horizon League action on Friday (Oct. 26) when they host Wright State in the only competition of the week beginning at 7:00 p.m.
