Butler Volleyball Team Spring Season Wrap-Up
May 13, 2002
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - The Butler volleyball team completed its spring season recently by participating in the Illinois and Indiana Invitationals.
"We showed great improvement over the spring season," said head coach Sharon Clark, who is entering her third season with the Bulldogs. "We are happy about where we finished off, and are really excited about the upcoming fall season."
Clark is especially excited about the prospect of her two redshirt freshmen - Candice Washington and Sarah Clough. The two 6-3 middle blockers, as well as the rest of the underclassmen "are really settling into their abilities and positions," said Clark.
The Bulldogs, who finished the 2001 season with a 12-13 overall mark and a 6-8 record in the Horizon League, return nine letterwinners to the 2002 squad. Joining them are a trio of incoming freshman - Megan Knightly, Carolyn Gruesbeck and Tiffany Burelson - who are expected to contribute immediately.
Butler will begin its 2002 season on Aug. 30 at the St. Louis Invitational.
