June 19, 2007

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Three regular season tournaments, a dozen home matches and some strong competition highlight the Butler volleyball team's 2007 schedule. The campaign will feature a season-opening trip to Florida, a six-match home stand at the end of the year, and a quartet of first-time opponents.

Butler travels to the Sunshine State for the first time under Clark as they open up the season in Coral Gables, Fla. at the Green and Orange Challenge hosted by Miami on August 24 and 25. The Bulldogs begin the tournament against Jacksonville on the opening night before closing the event the next night against Hofstra and the host Hurricanes.

After a brief stop in Cincinnati, Ohio for a battle with Xavier on August 28, Butler returns home to Hinkle Fieldhouse to host the Butler Invitational from August 31 to Sept. 1. The Bulldogs take on Tennessee Tech on the first day and battle Northern Illinois the following afternoon.

The Bulldogs play in their third and final tournament of the year the following weekend when they head to the West Virginia Volleyball Classic from Sept. 7-8. Butler faces East Tennessee State on Sept. 7 and takes on both the host Mountaineers and Indiana State on Sept. 8.

The Horizon League slate begins at Hinkle Fieldhouse a week later, as Butler welcomes Youngstown State to Indianapolis on Sept. 14 before hosting Cleveland State on Sept. 15.

The conference schedule continues through Wisconsin the following weekend when the Bulldogs travel to Milwaukee on Sept. 21 and Green Bay on Sept. 22. Butler returns home to host non-league foe Chicago State on Sept. 28 and battles first-year league member Valparaiso the following afternoon.

The Bulldogs then take to the road for a strenuous six-match stretch, with stops in Chicago to face Loyola (Oct. 2) and UIC (Oct. 3) and a swing through Ohio for matches at Wright State (Oct. 6), Cleveland State (Oct. 12) and Youngstown State (Oct. 13) before closing the trek at Valparaiso (Oct. 19).

Butler spends the remainder of the regular slate at Hinkle. The Bulldogs host non-conference foe UMKC on Oct. 21 before closing out the month of October with a home match against Wright State on Oct. 26.

UIC comes to town on Nov. 2 before Loyola stops by for a match the next day. The regular season concludes the following weekend, with the Bulldogs hosting Green Bay on Nov. 9 and Milwaukee on Senior Day on Nov. 10.

The Horizon League Championship runs from Nov. 15-18 in Milwaukee, Wis.
